Soft Tissue Therapy Lakelands
Soft tissue therapy is the hands-on part – working directly on muscle, tendon and fascia to get something that has locked up moving again.
What matters is what goes around it. Our physios and chiros use it as part of a plan rather than as the plan, because the treatment opens a window and what you do with that window decides whether the relief lasts.
From Lakelands it is about 15 minutes via Mandurah Road – close enough that regular sessions stay practical.
Muscular tension and trigger points
Trigger points refer pain away from themselves, which is why the spot that hurts is often not the spot that needs treating. A tight glute can produce pain down the leg; upper trapezius can produce a headache.
Working out where the symptoms are actually coming from is the assessment’s job, and it changes the treatment more often than people expect.
Around Lakelands, upper back and hip flexor tension from commuting and desk work is the version we see most.
Tendon problems
Tendinopathy behaves differently to muscle. It is typically worst when you start, eases as you warm up, and is at its worst the morning after a day you overdid it. If that pattern sounds familiar, the management is quite specific.
Hands-on work helps the surrounding tissue and the symptoms; the tendon itself changes through progressive loading.
Around Lakelands, Achilles and patellar tendon problems usually follow a jump in running volume.
Muscle strains and tears
The early days after a strain matter less than most people think. What determines whether it recurs is the loading in weeks three to eight, which is exactly when the pain has gone and motivation drops.
Soft tissue work through that period helps with the stiffness and guarding; the strength work is what prevents the repeat.
Around Lakelands, hamstring and calf strains from weekend sport after a sedentary week are the usual story.

Work and postural tension
Sustained positions cause more trouble than bad ones. The tissue objects to four hours in the same arrangement far more than it objects to the arrangement itself, which is why expensive chairs disappoint people.
Treatment settles the symptoms; changing the interval between position changes is what stops them.
Around Lakelands, the commute north plus a desk job is the combination that produces most of this.
Restricted movement and stiffness
Loss of range is worth taking seriously even when it does not hurt much. A shoulder that cannot get overhead or a hip that cannot rotate shifts load onto structures that were not designed for it, and the eventual complaint often arrives somewhere else entirely.
Around Lakelands, hip and ankle stiffness that limits running is the version we see most.
What soft tissue therapy will not do
Soft tissue therapy does not break down scar tissue by force, realign anything, or flush toxins. It does reduce sensitivity, improve short-term range and make movement more comfortable, which is genuinely useful – just not the same claim.
We would rather describe it accurately than oversell it.

What we see from Lakelands
Lakelands is one of the newest parts of the City of Mandurah – estate housing, young families and a train station that has changed how people get to Perth.
A lot of households here have someone commuting north and someone doing the school run, which is a particular kind of week. Long drives, desk work and exercise crammed into whatever gap exists is a reliable formula for tight hip flexors, sore upper backs and calves that complain the moment you start running again.
Hands-on treatment settles the symptoms quickly; the progression is what keeps them settled.

Common questions
Do you see patients from Lakelands?
Yes. We are at 32 Tuckey Street, Mandurah, roughly 15 minutes from Lakelands via Mandurah Road outside peak times.
Is soft tissue therapy the same as a massage?
There is overlap in technique, but the intent differs. Soft tissue therapy here follows an assessment, targets a specific problem, and is reviewed against whether that problem is changing. A relaxation massage has a different and perfectly legitimate purpose – it is just not aimed at a diagnosis.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the problem and how long it has been there. Many people notice a change after the first session, but a change that lasts usually needs both the hands-on work and the loading that goes with it. You will get a realistic estimate after the assessment, not before.
